Abstract

The aim of this study was to assess the feasibility for investment in rubber/cellulose bearing pad production for bearing bridge application. Feasibility is carried out to evaluate the production techniques used and production. Samples of this research were bearing bridge processing manufacture with different models, such as cylinder and square model. Interviews with manufacturer owner and technician were handling to collect data regarding the production processes. Studies conducted show that the workshop uses a batch process to produce the bearing bridge; with a different model, the ratio between concentrated latex and chemicals is the same. The plant uses a steaming process to heat concentrated latex. Bearing bridges produced from latex in this study can be made in accordance with the standards issued of Indonesia by the Indonesian National Standard (SNI). For bridge bearing products must meet SNI 3967 standards in 2008 concerning the specifications of plain and layered elastomeric bearings bridge with an ability to absorb shocks.
